Sports & Extra Curricular ActivitiesSports & Extra Curricular Activities<div style="text-align:justify;"><span lang="EN-GB"> <h1>​​​Pakistan University Sports Board</h1> </span> <font face="Calibri" size="3"> <font face="Calibri" size="3"> <p dir="LTR"></p> <p dir="LTR">Sports are integral part of a student's life and it is imperative that all education institutions encourage this activity and hold competitions. Such healthy exercise allows those who are more athletically inclined to excel during their student days.</p> <p dir="LTR">Pakistan University Sports Board (PUSB) is a supervisory body for Universities Sports in Pakistan. Equivalence Degree IssuanceEquivalence Degree Issuance<p>The accreditation of institutions, courses and degree programs has become increasingly challenging with increasing international collaboration in the fields of science and technology, as well as the increased mobility of students and scholars in the modern world.<br>In such a scenario, the equivalence of degrees and diplomas and their recognition pose complex issues for educational authorities. Declamation ContestDeclamation Contest<p style="text-align:justify;">Higher Education Commission, Islamabad has undertaken a number of initiatives to promote </p><p style="text-align:justify;">extra-curricular activities at university/DAI campuses including All Pakistan Inter-University Declamation </p><p style="text-align:justify;">Contest for Award of "Allama Iqbal Shield" as an annual activity with the objectives to:  Promote national integration, communication skills and critical thinking among the students.  Encourage tolerance, non-violence, and respect for others point of view.  Enhance understanding of socio-economic and political issues among students of various regions of Pakistan.  Divert energies of students towards healthy   activities and creative thinking.  </p><p style="text-align:justify;">The contest is first organized at the universities level wherein students from all the departments of all public & private universities and constituent colleges take part. 1st , 2nd and 3rd position holders at </p><p style="text-align:justify;">university level (each in English and Urdu) receive cash prizes of Rs.5,000/-, 3,000/- and 2,000/- </p><p style="text-align:justify;">respectively. </p><p style="text-align:justify;">Second round is organized at Regional level in Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, Peshawar and Islamabad (for Federal, AJK, FATA/Gilgit-Baltistan, Universities). 1st , 2nd and 3rd position holders at regional level (each in </p><p style="text-align:justify;">English and Urdu) receive cash prizes of Rs.15,000/-, 10,000/- and 8,000/- respectively. </p><p style="text-align:justify;">Three top scorers of both Urdu and English contest take part in Final/National Round organized in HEC </p><p style="text-align:justify;">Islamabad. The winners of the final competition both in Urdu and English are given the "Allama Iqbal Shield" and 1st , 2nd and 3rd position holders (each in English and Urdu) receive cash prizes of Rs.100,000/ <span style="background-color:transparent;color:inherit;">,75,000/- and 50,000/- respectively. Technology Development FundTechnology Development Fund<p style="text-align:justify;">The Higher Education Commission aims "to facilitate institutions of higher learning to serve as engines for socio-economic development of Pakistan" as stated in the mission. Along these lines, Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan took an initiative to finance proposals of completed interdisciplinary applied research projects for prototype development and industrial value addition for technology development. In this way, HEC envisages to help the productive minds of Pakistan to impact economy through new and emerging technologies.</p><p style="text-align:justify;"> </p><p style="text-align:justify;">The proposals shall be submitted by PhD scholars who have completed their PhD and have a ready research in the following specified areas;</p><ol style="list-style-type:decimal;"><li> Information and Technology /Computers (applications in Govt. services, health, textile, agriculture, dairy etc.)</li><li>Micro Electronics</li><li>Biotechnology (in health, agriculture, textile, dairy etc.)</li><li>Material Sciences/Man Made Material</li><li>Telecommunication</li><li>Robotics. </li></ol><p style="text-align:justify;"> </p><p style="text-align:justify;">The proposed funded projects would be expected to develop a product or service which would positively impact, inter alia,  the economy, solve a current problem, meet a market need, utilize local raw materials, move current products up the value chain, create large scale employment</p><p style="text-align:justify;">The proposals need to be academia-industry joint projects leading to products or services which solve a current problem or identify a new opportunity; are marketable, leading to positive cash-flows.</p>21-07-2016 09:34:27<img alt="" src="/english/PublishingImages/ThematicImages/HEC%20ICON-03.png" style="BORDER:0px solid;" />
Access to scientific instruments programAccess to scientific instruments program<p style="text-align:justify;">State-of-the-Art research equipment is critical to the development of scientific research in Pakistan's universities. However, the costs of acquiring and maintaining this equipment can be a major impediment. To address this, the Higher Education Commission has instituted the Access to Scientific Instrumentation Program (ASIP). Under this program, HEC provides financial support to the universities and R&D organizations for giving access to students of other HEIs to use their laboratories. </p><p><span><strong>Objectives:</strong> </span></p><ul><li>Providing financial support to scholars for their sample analysis through the latest scientific equipment</li><li>Providing financial support to institutions for providing services / opening their research facilities for the use of scholars from other HEIs. </li><li>Providing access to such facilities to promote research collaboration</li></ul><p><strong>Eligibility Criteria: </strong></p><ul><li>This program is open to postgraduate students (MS/MPhil/PhD and equivalent) enrolled in public sector universities recognized by HEC, and admitted as per HEC criteria</li><li>HEC Indigenous scholars are eligible subject to submitting proof of funds utilization, already provided to them under their scholarship </li><li>Faculty members are ineligible for this program </li></ul>13-07-2016 21:21:35<img alt="" src="/english/PublishingImages/ThematicImages/HEC%20ICON-13.png" width="275" style="BORDER:0px solid;" /> to scientific instruments program
Higher Education Commission LibraryHigher Education Commission Library<p style="text-align:justify;">​<span class="ms-rteFontSize-2">HEC Library serves research scholars, teachers and students and also provides services to HEC employees. The full texts of more than 9000 theses are available online on the HEC website ( where users have the option to retrieve information by subject, title, name of researcher, year and name of the university.</span></p><p style="text-align:justify;"><span class="ms-rteFontSize-2">The HEC Library also provides its users with the facility of Current Contents Services (CSS) and it plays a pivotal role to provide full access of National Digital Library Resources.
