Continuous Professional Development ProgramContinuous Professional Development Program<p style="text-align:justify;">The Continuous Professional Development Program (CPD) conducts various capacity building and refresher courses for the teaching faculty of Higher Education Institutions across Pakistan. These workshops aim to provide the background and skills necessary for faculty members to participate positively in academic activities of the universities. HEC Research Travel GrantHEC Research Travel Grant<p style="text-align:justify;">Academic events are significant for professional development of researchers and scholars. They serve as a source for guidance, exposure, knowledge sharing, developing linkages, and problem solving. Academic Conferences, Seminars and Symposia provide opportunities for academicians to help understand the latest developments in their field and validate research findings, while creating opportunities for future academic collaborations.</p><p style="text-align:justify;">Such events are the cornerstone of the academic environment. To cultivate this environment, the Higher Education Commission has set up a special Research Travel Grant Fund for University faculty, PhD scholars, and MS students at Pakistani Universities. Under this program, an academician or student selected to present research work at a national or international academic event is eligible to get funding from his/her academic institution and the academic institute will ultimately seek funding from HEC by applying for reimbursement</p><p style="text-align:justify;"><span class="ms-rteFontSize-2 ms-rteThemeForeColor-5-0"><strong><span aria-hidden="true"></span>Note: </strong><span style="background-color:transparent;"><strong>In order to avail </strong></span><span style="background-color:transparent;"><strong>Travel Grant</strong></span><span style="background-color:transparent;"><strong>, applicants may apply to his/her respective University (public sector and eligible private sector) and the University will ultimately seek funding from HEC by applying for reimbursement. Master Trainers Faculty Development ProgramMaster Trainers Faculty Development Program<p><strong>There are two Master Trainer Faculty Development Programs:</strong></p><ol><li>Master Trainer Faculty Professional Development Program</li><li>Training Effectiveness Program for MT-FPDP Alumni at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand</li></ol><p><strong></strong> </p><p><strong>MASTER TRAINERS-FACULTY PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM:</strong></p><p>This program is up to 8 weeks long and is a fully sponsored national in-service residential Master Trainer's professional teaching certificate program. It is held at LID Islamabad and is designed for Higher Education teaching faculty to develop their research and professional skills.</p><p> </p><p>Twenty-one such batches of MT-FPDP have been organized so far by the Learning Innovation Division. Faculty members of different public and HEC-funded private sector universities received professional certification for teaching, research, and management skills. Master Trainers lead a similar training in their respective institutions. </p><p> </p><p>To date, 783 HEI faculty members have received this training and are serving as Master Trainers in their respective institutions. The 28<sup>th </sup>Batch will be inaugurated in the month of July 2016.</p><p> </p><p><strong>TRAINING EFFECTIVENESS PROGRAM FOR MT-FPDP ALUMNI AT THE ASIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, THAILAND:</strong></p><p>This is an exclusive three-week international program meant as a follow-up training for the best performing alumni of the Master Trainer Faculty Professional Development Program (MT-FPDP). The program aims to further expose them to international academic practices and research, and to build their capacity to run the Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Centers at their universities.</p><p> </p><p>This training program is conducted at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand. It will be a centre of excellence for capacity building, skill development, and promotion of academic and leadership competencies through setting standards, cultivating academic quality, and advancing relevant research in collaboration with HEIs, industry, and social sector.</p><p style="text-decoration:underline;"><span class="ms-rteFontSize-3" style="text-decoration:underline;"><strong>Aims:</strong></span></p><p>The overall aim of the National Academy of Higher Education will be to enhance the quality of teaching, learning, and research; and governance and academic leadership in higher education institutions (HEIs). </p><p><strong>Specific aims will include:</strong></p><p>Developing and promoting academic and governance and leadership competencies of HEI faculty and management.</p><p>Conducting and promoting research/action research on capacity building</p><p>Providing support for the establishment of institutions and/or programmes focusing on capacity building of faculty and management of HEIs.</p><p>Creating and promoting sustainable partnerships with international development agencies, NGOs, civil society and social organizations</p><p>Providing inputs to the HEC for relevant policy development.</p><p style="text-align:justify;text-decoration:underline;"><strong class="ms-rteFontSize-3" style="text-decoration:underline;">Functions:</strong></p><p style="text-align:justify;"><strong>NAHE's functions will include:</strong> </p><p style="text-align:justify;">Designing and delivering generic and need-based capacity building and training programmes in teaching and research for faculty, and academic governance and leadership for faculty and management.</p><p style="text-align:justify;">In partnership with HEIs, developing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), as well as Continuing Education requirements for faculty and management of HEIs.<br></p><p style="text-align:justify;">Providing training on: (a) designing and implementing online courses, (b) creating communities of practices (online forums), and (c) developing the role of alumni in networking and mentoring for teaching/learning.<br></p><p style="text-align:justify;">Developing systems to monitor and regulate standards of similar capacity building institutions and/or programmes.<br></p>14-06-2019 06:45:56<img alt="" src="/english/PublishingImages/ThematicImages/HEC%20Logo1.jpg" style="BORDER:0px solid;" />https://hec.gov.pk/english/services/faculty/NAHE
English Language Teaching Reforms ProjectEnglish Language Teaching Reforms Project<p>​</p><p style="text-align:justify;">In order to bring qualitative improvement in English Language Teaching and Learning Higher Education Commission in 2004 launched first ever exclusive language based project titled as English Language Teaching Reforms (ELTR). This project aims at building the capacity of English Language Teachers in higher education sector in Pakistan for effective and sustainable development. The project is the part of overall vision of prospective plan 2020 and pertains to human resource development in English Language Teaching and research in Higher Education. </p><p style="text-align:justify;">After successful phase I which catered <strong>1398 </strong>teachers of colleges and universities, the ELTR launched its Phase II in 2010.
